Mainfähre Frankfurt

Not least because of the backdrop of the half-timbered ensemble, Höchster Castle and Justinus Church, the Höchster Christmas market is one of the most beautiful in the west of Frankfurt. Home-baked cookies, hand-mixed mulled wine as well as home-made crafts and knitted items reflect the down-to-earth character of this voluntary event. It goes without saying that the Höchst Association Ring includes foreign associations as well as lively Christmas jazz. There are gifts with local color and, at the Stiftergemeinschaft der Justinuskirche, CDs of concerts from Frankfurt's oldest church as well as homemade sloe gin and seasoning salts with ingredients from the Justinusgarten.

CITY CARD holders receive a free trip to/from Schwanheimer Ufer to the Höchster Christmas market with the Frankfurt Main ferry.

The "Mainfähre Frankfurt" is the only bicycle and passenger ferry in the city of Frankfurt. It connects the western districts of Schwanheim and Höchst every day and is on the route of the GrünGürtel cycle path. There is historical evidence that the ferry has been in operation since 1623. In 1945, a courageous citizen sank the boat in the mouth of the Niddam, saving the ferry from destruction. After the end of the war, it was pumped empty and was able to resume ferry service. The Main ferry bears the name "Walter Kolb" in honor of the deserving mayor of Frankfurt.
