"So, what's it like for you (in the GDR)?" - Many East Germans still feel exotic in the West and ask themselves, when will this finally end? While West Germans try their luck in the East and often fall flat on their faces, fall foul and soon turn back. But there are also many other perspectives, perceptions and experiences. 8 West German and 8 East German women were interviewed about their "border crossing" and report on their experiences. What did their parents give them as "luggage", how were they received in the "German foreign country" and what hurdles did they have to overcome? 36 years after reunification, there is still an awareness of East and West that is increasingly being talked about openly. But who is listening?
